Yes, finally, after much flitting around like a rampant delirious butterfly on speed, my decision has been made... One Competition just one and only one... I am competing in the IFBB Queensland Titles on the 17th of October 2010.
This has come about from me stopping and finally listening to my heart, listening to the very wise and knowing Kelli Johnson, and Jo Stewart and then also listening to Rosa-Maria Romero and her great discussion at yesterdays IFBB Sunshine Coast competition. I was also lucky enough to have a good chat to her after the comp and she is one fabulous lady.
But what Kelli has been telling me for ages, and what I do know in my heart is that if I concentrate on just one competition and put all my focus and energy into that one competition I will not only be giving my body a chance to rest and grow but also give myself the chance to be the absolute best I can be on that one day.
I did enjoy doing four comps last year but it has taken one hell of a toll on me, I really do forget that I am a lot older than most of the competitors - hell I have babies that are older than a lot of the competitors! My body needs a lot more time to recoup and recover... But damn I do forget... Hey maybe its because of my age that I forget lol...
Hang on I have to head to the gym for cardio...... ok, this will be a while so don't sit there holding your breath.....
Ok back from 45 mins of cardio and cooking dinner and making tomorrows food for me and Hubby, sorry to keep you hanging round like that...lol
So the decision has been made and that is all I will focus on for the rest of the year, I will not be triathaloning, I will be slowly but surely working towards the 17th of October, which can sound like a long way off unless you are a competitor then it is not very far away at all! It is only 6 months from this Saturday, which then breaks down into 3 x 8 week blocks, and since I always count down in 8 week blocks it is really really close!
I had a ball at the IFBB Sunshine Coast show yesterday, it was the first time in years that there has been a Sunshine Coast competition as opposed to the Queensland Titles, and so the classes were very small but the bodies on show were awesome! I got to meet Tara in the real world and I think I saw Kristin but then when I looked around at the end of the show she was gone -damn!
Lee Priest was great to watch and listen too and the fabulous Rose performed a routine and shared so much information to us, it slapped me about the head and made me remember how much I wanted to be on that stage and how much I love this sport.
So that's where I am...
Today we went back to the two day split programme we started and gave up on a couple of weeks back and I will now stick to that for the next 8 weeks, it a 2 day split with upper body one day and a total leg blow out the 2nd day, both days are super sets and tri sets. This will give us Wednesday and Saturday to throw in some cardio, and will also give us a chance to have more time out of the gym and refresh ourselves.
Will admit that it was a rush this morning to fit in the upper body workout in the shortened time span now that the gym doesn't open till 5.30am, but we did get it in. Not sure how it will work tomorrow as the new "due soon" leg machines to replace the "taken away to be replaced" machines have still not arrived, and trying to super set when one machine is at the top of the stairs and the other one is at the bottom then down a corridor into another room, is going to add a fair bit of cardio to an already circuit style workout... joy! lol!
Well I am now off to do up calendars and plans for the new goal.... YAY!
