Wow HIS is SO BIG!!!

Well ANZAC long weekend has been, and is still being since I am not actually at work working today but doing the GST Tax return for our business at home, a mixed bag.....

Now if there is one National day that I feel truly emotional about it is ANZAC day.

Not only because of the respect I feel towards all those men and woman that gave their lives to achieve what they hoped was going to be world peace, but it is always a day which makes me miss my son in the NZ Army even more than I normally do... This day helps me to reflect and remember how my heart sang and sobbed with joy and pride the day he performed the Haka with the rest of his Basic Training group... even now the memory brings me to tears... It was a life changing event for both of us....

So let me see what else has happened since I was smacked around the head by an iron bar.... hmmm funnily enough the bruising wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, so not a lot of sympathy passed my way, but I do still flinch when I see tricep pushdowns happening lol

Friday came and went as most days do with training, work and sleep...

Saturday Hubby worked until lunch time so that always gives me time to do the housework, lucky me, after we had both been to the gym.. I ended up only doing 50 mins of cardio on Saturday which was a nice change... the rest of the day was spent keeping out of the torrential rain and on general retail wandering and the great frozen egg white hunt and then a mad rush home before they defrosted... Went out after dinner to the RSL for coffees and cake to discover the band for the night had blown a fufu valve and was not able to make a noise...

Yesterday the sun came out so it was Broom day.... No I don't attend dawn Ceremonies as much as I would love to, because I cry just watching the news clips and going to an actual ceremony would turn me into a blithering sobbing mess... which, although nice and sentimental, would be just wayyy over the top... so I always wake and spend my own time giving thanks and thinking of Clark...

Then when Hubby got back from his morning run with Tank and Morgan... mind boggles really just thinking about that... we jumped on the bikes and headed for the hills, literally, we were going up through Melany and back across to Montville then probably back down through Nambor...

Now I know you know my philosophies and beliefs in things spiritual, fates, karma, luck... So you can imagine my horror when just as I left the island my right mirror shook loose and smashed down onto the road.... GASP! does not even touch where my head went.... I saw it shaking but I was on the outside and to get across and stop I would have taken Hubby out... we stopped but it was smashed and driven over by the time we could get it...

So that left me without my right hand mirror for the day, I tried to not let it get to me and even though the arm was still there the mirror wasn't.

Apart from having to do three checks before pulling out and not being able to check where Hubby was when he wasn't in front of me (he usually sits on the right hand side of me on normal roads or just back and to my right on narrow ones) the loss of it left me feeling weirdly unbalanced for the whole day, add to that the fact that I wore my winter boats which I haven't ridden in for months, shit maybe even over a year, and I just wasn't comfortable on the Broom... I was out of sorts with her... which was even weirder as I have always felt so at home on her...

We carried on up through the hills and it turned out a fabulous day up there once we had put up with the Sunday drivers, yes I know it was Sunday but hell I just hate slogging up a hill behind someone in a car that can clearly do the speed limit but for some unknown reason he just wont!!!
It was almost too hot for jeans once we were off the bikes but we definitely needed them going through the hills... I loved the crisp air, so fresh and biting!

After we had wandered around and had coffee and sourdough bead with chicken in Melany we then headed to Montville where I found Bold in Gold which is an amazing jewellery store that used to be in Melany but I lost them and didn't realise they had moved to Montville... I have two of their rings, they are hand made and one of a kind and I was like a kid in a candy store when I saw them again!!! Poor Hubby... lol

By the end of the day we found there was little selection at either place for our sort of food and in desperation we decided to head home for Tuna... lame... we craved Tuna.... yes we are officially lame... tough Harley riding skinny flat white drinking, tuna eaters... ewwww ain't we the scary ones then... lol

When we hit the Bribie Island Road Hubby decided he wanted to check out the Broom as I had been concerned with her braking (pretty sure now it was just the different footwear) so we swapped bikes...... Now I have only ridden the Fatboy up and down the roads round our house when the pipes have been changed so Hubby can hear them go past so this was the first time I had ridden The Boy on the open road....

Oooooo my what a big Boy he is.... yum....

Now the Broom is rigid framed with hard shocks.. so you feel every bump, hole, stone... I like that, it makes me appreciate that I am riding her, she is tough and staunch and hard as nails... nice...

The Boy is like an armchair on wheels!!! He just glides along, although Hubby reckons he isn't as smooth as the newer ones, but to me he was like a comfy cushiony sofa... I was supposed to ride him about a kilometre down the road then give him back....nah didn't happen... I rode him all the way back to the Island and then reluctantly gave him back when we stopped at the gas station... my he was such a nice juicy big one.... lol

Turned out the Brooms brakes were fine, and I don't think I would enjoy The Boy in every situation, I couldn't imagine being able to push him backwards up a hill into a park like we had to on Sunday, but then maybe that would be a great way to increase the quad muscles??? hmmmm once again I am pondering a larger bike... hmmmmm

In the meantime I am now off to internet shop for a replacement mirror for the Broom... we decided in the end that I didn't break the mirror... the road broke the mirror.... fingers crossed the Gods accept that....

PS.... So I go to post this and what comes up in the page as it post..... "Price your funeral online....." Ok so maybe the Gods don't think it was the road that broke the mirror... damn!

i sense bitch broom has a big brother coming, lol... backing up while pushing off uphill, its do-able and provides fabulous thighs, but you'll just learn to park elsewhere ;) did you buy a new ring(s)? we'll have to compare sometime... have a great week! xoxo

Hi Trainer T! Thank you for reading my blog, I had a quick peek at yours and I love that you are helping with childhood obesity!! Its one of my pet hates - lazy parents make fat kids!!! Education is the only way and I hope to have the chance one day to work with this problem too!
