FIGURING OUT THE FIFTIES.... SO THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.......

Its not deprivation it's called real food!

Ok... this has been bugging me for a while now and tonight I finally realised that this is my blog so I can say what I like!!!!!

I am tired and bewildered that everyone assumes that because someone does not ingest processed, modified, chemical enhanced sugar or fat laden food they are deprived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am disappointed that people who are supposedly at the peak of their fitness and health levels feel that they are deprived because they are not eating over processed salt laden preservative added foods. Actually I am astonished that they feel this way.

I changed my eating habits on the 2nd of January 2008, I have not eaten pizza since then, I have, I believe, had Mcd's twice since then and was disappointed and left feeling ill both times, I have eaten cakes since then and I have enjoyed them but they did not improve my life beyond all recognition..... Usually they made me feel disgusting the next day...

I am currently only eating a small amount of oats, brown rice or sweet potato as my carbs. My protein intake is higher than most people and currently consists of Egg whites, Chicken, Kangaroo steak and Tuna in varying amounts throughout the day. All meals with the exception of breakfast contain 2 cups of green vegetables.

I am eating this way because I am in the process of bringing my body as close as I can to the expected standard the judges are looking for - After all isn't that what the competition is about, we enter and pay for the opinion of a qualified judge who compares us to others who have also entered for their opinion. The one whose structure and form is as close to the required standard will win.

Prior to deciding to enter this competition I pretty much ate what I am eating now but in slightly larger quantities. After this competition I plan to pretty much eat what I am eating now but in slightly large quantities.

This is because what I am eating now is healthy, clean, unprocessed, real food.

I will add more food after the competition in the form of other vegetables and fruit, maybe the odd organic cheese. I will probably even have a piece of cake again... maybe once a month.. who knows... I will most likely make my own so I know what is in it.

Eating this way has lowered my blood pressure & cholesterol. It has increased my Iron, Calcium, and life expectancy. It has made me look younger, feel better, and improved my sex life.

I am not deprived because I choose not to eat processed white flour mixed with fat that has preservative added meat and cheese put on top of it and baked. I am not deprived because I do not consume chemicals made to taste like white sugar, I am not deprived because I do not want to eat this junk food... cause it's just junk pressed into food shaped parcels. Most people can not even pronounce what is in these foods...

I chose to change my LIFESTYLE for my LIFE, not for a competition. I hope to be entering more than just these two competitions... I hope to do this for years.. why wouldn't I! Who doesn't want to be their very best all the time? Check out Jo Stewart's web site, she has a great blog about retaining your body after the competitions.

This is not deprivation! This is LIFE. If you don't like to eat clean healthy fresh unprocessed foods all the time why live this lifestyle, life too short to be miserable... believe me I am nearly 50 and I'm sure last time I looked I was 18... life is too short to struggle through each day..

Just be happy with your choices and get on with it, or choose something else. If you are thinking of becoming a figure competitor it's an awesome life changing choice. It is not easy, but it is not a trip into deprivation! You will only feel deprived if you believe other people when they tell you that you must have something to be a perfect person...

It's exactly the same as being told you are not complete or normal until your teeth are white, house is clean, washing smells pretty, own a house, car, pet and have 2.5 kids. If you don't have all of these are you deprived????????????

Rant over....

I had another great day, two sessions of cardio, four car cleans, went through hell when told my granddaughter was rushed to hospital but thankfully she is fine just a bit of a concussion - I am sure Miss Lily will grow up to be the first woman to bungy jump from a spaceship!!!! Ate what I should, feeling great and no lotions potions or spells required...

Measurement day tomorrow.....

Fantastic post and couldn't agree more. I also find it strange that if you were to tell someone you CAN'T eat it because you're allergic, medical reasons, etc. they are more understanding than if you tell them you CHOOSE not to eat it. How bizarre is that??? Since starting this comp prep, I've warned people also that if they comment on my physique and feel the need to give me feedback on how "skinny" I am or that I need to put on weight, then they are opening themselves up for my feedback on how their physique is looking and what I think they should be doing about it. End result is that nobody has had the courage to say anything... yet!! ;)

Thanx people, Have to admit it came out sounded very righteous but I just wanted to be honest about how I am dealing with the competition preparation. I know what you mean RaeC people love to tell you that you are too skinny but god forbid you tell them they are too fat!!! LOL

Ditto! I do eat pizza, completely HOME MADE that is...all fresh!
I did THINK I craved things during the last week of my comp prep-but after wards just went back to eating the way I have for years-healthy. And yep, for years people have thought both hubby and I are 'DEPRIVED'...."you CAN'T eat chocolate at easter?"...No, I don't WANT to-thanks! Goes with what Rae said up above.
Yep-we get it chicky!
