Relaxing?? I don't think so....

So yesterday I trained back and did my 30 mins of cardio on the cross trainer, had no problems during the back training but by the end of the cardio my left leg was aching... which was annoying as it has been my right side that has been playing up...

Then after work I had my first session with Justin at Healthy Life on Bribie for a remedial massage.....


oooookkkkkaaaayyyy... now if you are all my "friends" why did someone not be friendly enough to warn my of the pain involved in this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Relaxing???????? I don't think so!!!!!!


Ohhhhh alright, I know its my fault and I will now admit that since I have NEVER stretched before, during or after training, EVER, I am totally to blame for the fact that my muscles are big bunches of knots and cramps and can not move in any full range of movements in any directions.... at all.... anywhere...

Justin had this nervous little laugh whenever I totally failed at every stretch and in the end I think he was worn out from nearly 3 hours of pushing, pulling and pressing me with my muscles rebelling at every move.


I was horrified at how bunched up I was, I just never realised, I thought that was just me.. when he told me to relax, he would than say.. "no.. relax... no, let go.. ohhh ok that is relaxed... Cath you need to learn to relax, NEED TO!!!" LOL


At one point he was trying to stretch my Hamstrings and my left one just cramps instantly! Honestly one movement and wham CRAMP! (and head shaking from Justin) So lots of hammy stretches for me...


Turns out that since I have had this back injury for years my legs have compensated for my Transversus Abdominis muscle not working properly due the back injury. So my legs are over compensating and when I train my Abs all I am actually using is my hip flexors and upper back, he was shocked at how far I can lift my leg without "turning on" my ab muscles at all...

I came home totally exhausted and sore, woke this morning to lots of sore points but no leg or back pain.. So todays training was lots of stretching, stretching, stretching, then training my Trans Abs, and a few other small concise Ab exercises then I tried for the cardio but my body is tired so I stopped at 15 mins and walked home...


I am looking forward t the next session with a bit of trepidation... seems the more "homework" I do the less pain I will be in when he works on me again, so boy am I doing my homework!!!!! LOL

So my advise for today is Stretch and have regular massages or else you will end up a bunched up cramped old lady who now has a remedial massage on her fun list right up there with tooth extraction!!!

I have been "trying" to regularly do Body Balance classes at the gym to force me to stretch. They are really quite a relaxing and enjoyable class if you persist with them. Certainly a different pace to our other activities in the gym. You might want to give one a go? Good luck with your stretching!

LOL cath!!! sore yes, but pain no. very cool that you had no leg or back pain in the morning, you need this. i think you're going to notice a HUGE change in your physique too if you can do this say monthly for a year. you have lots of toxins and knots to work out.

advice; your immune system can get really pissed off from this sudden release of toxins. mine did. drink lots of water and green tea to flush that shit out.

ps, sorry the mexican holiday wasnt smashing. we have thanksgiving here this thursday. i'll take you on holiday with me :)

Hi Dianna, Yeah we have yoga classes here but I am always at work when they are on... I'm going to try and fit in the Saturday morning one... hard to do that and not to train with weights though LOL

MQo1!!! Yep heaps of toxins, I'm bloated and puffy and yuk and now I feel like I have been kicked in the crutch by a donkey LOL Hope you have a fabulous thanksgiving!!!!
