FIGURING OUT THE FIFTIES.... SO THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.......

Nuom Nuom Nuom

It struck light a smack in the side of the head with a wet fish.....

I woke up Thursday morning starving, hungry, stomach gurgling empty....

I guzzled water with my pre cardio supplements hoping to stop the aching empty stomach feeling which I never suffer from unless it is 2 days out from comp and then, really, you are too buggered to care about being hungry...

I hit the cross trainer and suddenly my ability to actually move those feet things was gone... my normal resistance level felt like it was 10 levels higher...

I gasped and struggled and managed to get my heart rate up to the lowest point of the heart range I use in the morning when normally I have trouble keeping it under the highest point....

I stayed on the cross trainer for the whole 45 minutes, which I usually extend to 60, and then fell into the car and came home to devour my breakfast of eggy oats...

20 minutes later I was starving... so before heading to work I mixed up a serving of protein powder paste... just gooey enough to be sickly sweet and stick to the roof of your mouth, nuom nuom nuom... that felt better...

But wait what is this... 1 hour later and I'm looking at my watch and finishing the first of my 1.5ltrs of water.. which usually takes me through to nearly lunch time... had 2 cups of green tea instead of one and cut short the morning tea break to stagger up the stairs and inhale my morning tea.. and topped it off with a quarter of my afternoon tea... another cup of green tea and more water kept me far far away from the barrel of biscuits in the lunch room who were by now dancing atop the microwave with horns blaring and flags waving yelling my name to come and eat meeeeeee.....

Lunch was gone 30 mins early and another quarter of afternoon tea was added to it... lots more water... more green tea... more water... shut up biscuits... damn... was looking for a pen and opened the desk draw that has the chocolate covered almonds in it that someone who obviously knows nothing about me had given me as a thank you present ages ago... well hello little almonds!!!! draw slammed shut.... more water... now the almonds were mumbling the eat me song in harmony with the biscuits...

Had what was left of the afternoon tea egg whites 30 minutes before they were due and then mentally paced until knock off time... the saving grace was the amount of water I had drunk as I was now heading to the toilet every 10 minutes and that was keeping my mind off my stomach which was once again screaming for food...

Now this is where it gets ugly... so if you have a delicate stomach it may pay to avert your eyes....

When I first started this weight loss-competition journey, Jo Stewart said to me... If you ever, really, really really have to have something that is not on your food plan... really really HAVE to... have PROTEIN... and I have always tried to stick to that... except of course for the great Nutrigrain and bananas debacle which we will promise ourselves never to mention again.....

So I came home and did just that... I ate protein.... 2 servings of protein powder mixed into tacky gooey stick to the roof of your mouth slime.... over a period of 30 minutes... honestly finished the first lot and then managed to get changed and then came back for the next lot... I could not stop putting food in my mouth... I then topped it off about 20 minutes later with egg whites cooked and then protein powder added to them while they were still warm... then finally I was sort of satisfied...

I did not train, I was exhausted... probably from all the chewing... so while Hubby headed to the gym I prepared the next days meals and then I went straight into cooking my dinner... which was only about an hour after my last serving of mushy eggs and protein powder... Inhaled dinner which I added extra beans and broccoli to...

I lasted a whole 45 minutes after dinner before having another egg and protein powder feed then finally fell asleep on the sofa at 7.30... fell into bed at 8...

Woke Friday and was great!!! Had a fabulous cardio session right back on top of the range, smashed shoulders last night and abs like I had had a months holiday...

Hell knows what all that protein did to my stomach... the carbs were pretty much zero... and I know that excess of anything does still does go to fat... duhhh not stupid, just starving... but this morning the scales have dropped another 6oogms since Wednesday so who the hell knows what is going on...

Well we are heading out in about 30 mins so I better go, hang out the washing and get organised with my food for the trip.... mmmmmmmmmmm fooooooood nuom nuom nuom.....

Your body knows what's going on... you needed food, plain and simple.

When that happens to me, I always opt for a bowl of oats, and probably a big potato with dinner. The scales might swing up a bit the next morning, but they always show a massive drop within a couple of days. I remember doing that about four weeks out and topping it off with a yummy chocolate cake. Weight plummeted that week. LOL.

How amazing is it that our bodies always know just what they need?
