FIGURING OUT THE FIFTIES.... SO THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.......

Sunday 5 September 2010

Sleepless, shaking, striping ............

I played Nana on Friday night and once again had the fabulous pleasure of reading the story books I bought for my daughter to my Grandkids....

Anyone out there who has a daughter really must track down a copy of The Paperbag Princess, a story that shows you don't need a boy to be awesome! One of the others made me almost cry as it is "my Cat Likes To Hide In Boxes" and I remember buying it to read to my daughter because our cat Larry really did like to hide in boxes, suitcases and drawers. We could never just close an open drawer for the fear of trapping Larry and all boxes had to be double checked just in case he was in them LOL The book made me miss him a lot...

My kid sitting finished around 12.30pm when Amanda & Neil arrived home from a great night out, I loved to do the kid sitting and I loved to be able to give them a night out but I had been up for almost 21 hours by the time I drove home and crashed into bed...

Then the phone rang at 5.45am... it was Amanda letting me know that a heavy duty 7.1 Earthquake had hit Christchurch NZ, which is where my Son and his family live..... Of course the first thing we all did was try and get hold of him but with no power etc we had to wait for them to contact us...

From checking the NZ news on the internet I knew no one had been seriously injured and since Clark is in the Army I figured he was probably busy looking after others... Turned out he was fine and when he phoned me Saturday night the call was full of those funny stories that can only come out of emergencies... like the pole dancer at the nightclub where Clark used to be a bouncer who was mid-pole when the quake struck... who was tossed off and landed face first on the bar... Ouch! The owners apartment above the bar was fine because the all the poles kept the place solid!

Clark is a chef in the army, so after the initial huge clean up of food spread over the kitchen area, ........ a job, I pointed out, that only required a group of bodybuilding competitors 2 weeks from comp and the place would have been licked clean in 10 minutes lol... He started to prepare breakfast.... 3 dozen eggs to be poached at a time in large water filled pans... but then the aftershocks hit and the eggs and the water sloshed right back out again! Fried eggs were the replacement!!!

The main thing is they are fine, their house is missing a chimney, but some people have lost their entire home.... so whats a chimneyin an army rental!

Hubby now sees Kelli's husband Collin on a Saturday morning for personal training, diet etc so we headed up there yesterday... I had done my normal Saturday morning weigh in and was surprised that my weight had dropped big time again... so while I was up at Kelli's we did a quick in between caliper test and I have dropped another 2 mils in 3 days!

This should be fabulous and it is, but there is a bit of muscle falling off with the goo so she has changed my diet again to add back in just a little more carbs and my HITT spinning has been stopped... I now have to pedal sedately keeping my heart rate at around 75% for 45 mins... hmmm boooorrrring!!!

Still don't want to strip off all the hard earned extra muscle I have gained since the last comps so I will sit and pedal... pedal... pedal...

Had a lazy Sunday, still recovering from the lack of sleep between Friday and Saturday, but got in a great Quads workout with Hubby throwing on extra weights and telling me to "just push it , OK!" hell I have missed that lol

Went and visited my Parents for Fathers day and appreciated how wonderful it is to have such fabulous parents who are both still with me... I am so very lucky!

So once again another week looms... 6 Weeks to comp... 42 sleeps! Bring it on! Will try and keep this more up to date this week... no promises though cause some times I just have to sit back and enjoy the Jelly...
