Agoraphobic hermit!

I have a new favorite exercise!!!!

Double arm cable head high curls!!!

Just saying it out loud is like a poem... DOU bal ARM CA bal HED HI KEEEERRRRLLSS!!!!
OK so I love to play with words....
But anyway it is an awesome exercise - you have to concentrate really hard to get your arms just right and then when they are just right - wow the burn -love the burn!!

And on the subject of concentrating....

Why do people insist on talking to you when you are training!!!!!

Now I am the first to admit that I would be very happy to live my life as an Agoraphobic Hermit, give me a tall fence and a good book and I am happy for days.

When I have my day off I love to hide away from the world. When I was living by myself I would tell my friends I was going to another town to visit someone then go home and read for the day. I'm just like my Dad, give me a crossword puzzle and silence - ahhhhhhhhhhhh bliss

So of course when I am at the gym I am there to lift weights not to chat about sick kids or the latest economic pitfall.

I speak to Hubby, mostly because he speaks to me, but he has learnt - when I give him the "Look" no words are to be uttered, no sound is to be directed at me, DO. NOT. DISTURB. I. AM. TRAINING!

I find it annoying enough when I am between sets to be spoken to...

like this morning when a PT who insists on chatting while her customer is training (Glad I'm not paying for her time) comes up nice and close and tells me about spending the night nursing her vomiting son.. after a quick three steps back I smile and make sympathetic awwww noise and try and work out which weight she just touched... ick!

But what about the ones who actually stop for a quick chat when you have two dumbbells above your head and you are up to 10 in a set of 12 and the sweat is running into your eyes and...

"What about that Cricket.. jeeezzz you Kiwi's must be peesssed" Actually - No as we won the Rugby and the League and I didn't even watch cricket when I was living in NZ and really who even cares about cricket!

But the best yet was a while back when one bloke came up to me while I was in full stretch doing Lat pull downs and patted me on the arm and said "morning".
Hubby actually stopped breathing!
I stopped mid movement and blinked, then quietly put the weight back into position.
Hubby quietly mumbled... "He has no idea how close to being dead he came" LOL

How do you nicely tell someone to bugger off... Poor Hubby just cringes when people speak to me waiting for me to snarl, but so far I have retained the urge.

But why do they feel the urge to chat! If they were really training they wouldn't have the energy to chat!

I realise that most of the other people in our time slot are retired so have all day to train so sitting on a machine for 20 minutes between set is no big thing to them... waiting for them to move off the machine is one huge big deal for us!

Ohhh well I will just have to keep grinding my teeth and try to smile and nod, smile and nod....

Maybe I could get a T shirt printed up with this badge I saw the other day... 'I'm sorry, you mistake me for someone who wants to know"

Anyway this Agoraphobic Hermit is off to slink to the Library for my next set of books. Hope I don't see anyone I know, might wear my Ipod in case someone at the library knows me.........

DOU bal ARM CA bal HED HI KEEERRRRLLLSSS

My sister wears a t-shirt that says "Fuck Off - I have enough friends"

Do you want me to find out where she bought it?

I am vey tempted but I think the oldies at the gym might get a bit upset with that one hehehehe

I already have one that says "Don't waste my time" maybe I should start wearing that!

I love wearing my mp3 player, people don't tend to talk to you as much. Patting on the shoulder whilst doing a pull down - hasn't he seen your muscles?
