FIGURING OUT THE FIFTIES.... SO THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.......

Question about food....

Hubby and I both eat exactly the same meat but in different quantities at different times of the day....

Now I have been using the Foreman Grill for everything and while we both still love the meat done on the grill I am hoping to change things around soon and start using my Slow Cooker....

Now what I can not figure out is how I will measure the correct quantities once the bulk dish has been cooked...

For instance...

I have 200gms of Kangaroo mince in a meal and Hubby has 250gms...
So if I put, say, two meals each worth... 900gms of raw mince in the slow cooker then add some salt free stock and some herbs and spices... how do I measure out what it ends up as????

I know that once cooked the meat does not weight the same as raw and that is why it is always measured raw... but then you have to allow for the stock as well....

I can't see the point of using the slow cooker if I have to do it one meal at a time...

Am I over thinking this??? How do you all do this or do you cook separate meals for the family???

Ohhhhh and I am going to change to being a Triathlete as I am watching the competitors in tomorrows Tri wandering from room to room with 6 packs of beer!!!! I want to be able to do that the day before a big comp!!!!

Once its cooked chuck it on the scales to get the total finished weight, then calculate how much is needed for each of you. Example: say the scale weight is 900 grams after cooking including the stock - then 400 grams of that is yours (2 meals of 200 grams) and 500grams is your hubbies (2 meals of 250g) voila :)

Hi,
I agree totally, weigh it all when finished than divide between you both dishing out whats required ie (you) 200g then hubby 250g, into your containers.
This is the best way without doing your head in.
Seems hard & confusing doesnt it? you are not alone, as I used to think the same, just to bloody hard...
enjoy.
