No Guns allowed.....

ANZAC Day tomorrow, please take the time to think of those who gave their lives for us, and please ask for peace so that those who are in the armed forces today may be safe....

My Son is in the NZ Army and tomorrow I will be missing him even more than usual and hoping that although he is prepared to go, may he never have to know the horrors of war.

Now Yesterday the new wireless modem arrived yesterday and you know how some times you should just sit down and listen to your gut but you decide that your gut is just being hungry and tired and go ahead and do exactly what it is telling you not to do anyway.......

Well that's what I did last night...... stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, (that was me banging me head against a brick wall!)

So although I was so exhausted that I fell asleep between cleaning cars while sitting up in an old broken office chair......

And although I was even more exhausted because when I arrived home in tears from being so tired I discovered that the dogs had played in amongst the banana palms and dug up a truck load of sandy dirt and the whole house was like a sandpit on steroids so I had to vacuum the whole house and change all the linen on our bed whilst sobbing like an idiot....

And although I was still a tearful mess right through cooking dinner and the other meals....

I choose 7.30pm to install a new wireless modem onto our computer!!!!!!! Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Anyway after unpacking the box, putting in the CD which promises to make this a simple 3 step process, I then waited while my computer told me what to do......... 1st step was time consuming but painless, nearly fell asleep waiting for it to "configure"...

Step 2 finally arrived and then came the error message telling me to wait for 5 mins and try again.. did that.. damn didn't work.. 5 mins later did it again, 5 mins later did it again, 5 mins later phoned bigpond just like the error message suggested if it took too many tries... stupid, stupid, stupid....

Spoke to the non human voice, answered his/its questions about the old modem but which had no reference to the new modems problems... but because the new modem wasn't installed he/it didn't accept that I could have a problem with something that he/it didn't believe I had!!!!

Finally managed to override him/it and ended up in India..... stupid, stupid, stupid....

The first "technician" could not help me because the non human had put me through to the old modems help desk.... so I was transferred to the wireless division... well I was transferred to a ringing phone which cut me off after 7 mins of ringing....

But did I give up and go to bed even though I was falling asleep listening to the ringing phone.. No!!! stupid, stupid, stupid!

Tried step 2 again, and again, and again... phoned bigpond again... overrode the nonhuman quicker this time and got another "Technician" who was extremely helpful and walked me through the process all over again... starting again with my name and birthdate..... then about 20 mins into his helpful lesson he asked me to "Plug the phone line into my modem...."

"Hang on" I said not very politely... "why would I plug in a phone line into a WIRELESS modem????????? I thought the whole point of a WIRELESS modem is that they do not need a phone wire????

The silence from India was deafening... he then said... "I will now transfer you to a wireless technician......."
This was after talking to me about my "wireless" modem for nearly 20 mins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID................

I was crying when the Indian lady asked me the same questions regarding my name and birthday etc that the very first non-human had asked me almost 1 and /2 hours earlier....

I finally admitted defeat and hung up on her when she put me on hold so she could "consult her manual for the information"

This morning I unplugged everything and turned off my computer... this afternoon I restored my computer back to 7pm yesterday which was before I was so stupid as to ignore my gut.

I took a deep breath, inserted the CD and 10mins later I have wireless broadband access....

And just when you thought this sad tale of stupidity had a happy ending..........

At 4.30pm I made a phone call...

Me... "Hello Telstra I was told I had to phone to have my ADSL cancelled, and then once that was done I could re-use my old email (big smile in my voice)"

Telstra... "Oh, Well.... I can cancel your ADSL but you will never be able to re-use your old email."

Me... "But when we ordered the new wireless modem we specifically asked that we be able to either retain our email or re-use it ans we were told that once we cancelled the ADSL we would be able to do just that"

Telstra... "Sorry but who-ever told you that was wrong, you will now have to email ALL your contacts and give them your new email address............"

I didn't cry.... I just said... ok thanx.... don't cancel the ADSL... yet.... we will pay for both connections till I know that everyone I want to has my new email.... sigh!

AND.... This is why figure competitors 3 weeks out from a competition should NEVER be allowed near guns........ LOL

OMG-I'm so totally nodding my head-because TELSTRA SUCKS!! I think everyone in Australia has a telstra war story to tell. How on earth do they stay in business?

3 weeks-wow! it will fly by!
Oh-and thanks again for the smoke-out info...it's helping!
