Woman of your Age...

Trained shoulders today, lots of pressing as I want to grow those beasties..

Mental note, take out ponytail before doing Rocky Presses.. nothing worse than hooking the bar under the "tail" when your shoulders are burning!!!!

Been having a few issues since the comp.. well since and even before actually... strange numbness in my right leg, which then got worse after the comp.. I put it down to the old posing practice sore back, then because of lack of carbs, then carb loading, then dehydration, then rehydration...

Finally I gave up saying no to Hubby and went to the doctor.. But I did also say to Hubby.. "you watch he will say it..." before we went in.

Yep Hubby came in with me as I tend to get a little frustrated with Doctors and have been known to stomp out of their rooms yelling obscenities at being told my problem is my age... sigh!

So WE went in... I explained that I had just finished competing in a Figure class in a bodybuilding competition and was blinked at...

I explained my concerns and pointed out that my legs were sore, with sharp shooting burning pains, itching, tingling and swelling... "Look, like they are now but worse by the end of the night"...

I was told my legs were not swollen at all.

Ummm yes they are, look!!! they have zero definition, I almost have cankles, and you can not see any calf definition which I have had all my life.. killer calves.. don't even train them they just grow by themselves calves!!! Annnnddd my quads are the same... no definition, round sausage quads, SORE tingling round sausage quads.....

I was told again that my legs were not swollen at all.

Hubby then pointed out that ummm they were actually very swollen for my legs and ankles...

Doctor did not believe either of us... and said that my legs were great for a .... wait for it... a "Woman of my age".......... SIGH!

About then I stopped trying... went through the motions and nodded and smiled even when he said I should not let my body fat get as low as I did as that will stop my periods... Gee ya think???? Duhhh that's what I love about it!!! LOL Anyway Women My Age might not have them anymore... LOL

Ohhh and I should not dehydrate or have days without salt... he then said he had no idea what was causing my swollen numb sore legs and I had to go for a CT Scan and blood tests...

We headed home after Hubby had bought me the latest Musclemag to read and after opening it I realised that we really should have given to the doctor cause there on page 50 is an article on back pain and in the section on Disk Herniation, well look at that... it just happens to have all my symptoms...

Luckily it also has suggestions on how anyone, even Women My Age, can alleviate the problem....

AAAAAAArRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!
I hate that shit! and I'm only 42 but still get it...not just doctors-friends & family-you cannot tell them you have a pain because they instantly say-"well, you are getting older-maybe you shouldn't lift so much" Infuriating to say the least.
And I really hate that when we go to doctors and spell out all the fricking symptoms-they can't figure out a damn thing-we have to find it in magazines or the internet-what are they getting paid for other than to give us pills to pop?!
Sorry-went off on a rant...but we in blogland know EXACTLY what you be talkin' 'bout girl! :-)

Cathy, my brother is 61, I am 45...bit of a gap there...btw, he looks fantastic for his age, is quite fit and has beautiful olive skin he got from our Spanish background...however, after my accident I was telling him I was frustrated and wanted to get back to the gym, when he found out I train 6 out of 7 days when possible, he said "you shouldn't do so much, at YOUR AGE you need to cut that stuff back a bit or your body will start to suffer"....AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH
