Just A Quick Chuck.... then what...

Sooooooooooooo...

My new training programme gives me Wednesday as a "rest day" so this is when I do no weight training but try and fit in as close to an hour of cardio as I can on a semi-empty stomach...

Semi-empty as I still have my L-Glutamine, BCAA's, L-Carnitine (if Hubby hasn't stolen the last of it! yes guess what happened this morning) and now added to this totally obnoxious mix is powdered Glucosamine which I have gone back onto cause I'm old and getting creaky in the normal old and creaky places....

When I am training this mix is added to my protein powder which I take as soon as I fall (yes pretty much literally) out of bed each morning....

Of course if the dogs manage to get through the child proof gate, which it appears is not always Tank and his magic flicking nose proof, the drink is then consumed shortly after I have had 45kgs of doggy love bouncing round on the bed... if this also includes Morgan it will be close to 30kgs of insane doggy feet stomping on me and 45kgs of doggy love growling at her to leave me alone because I belong to him... ahhh yes just a normal 4.45am wake up in paradise.... and then when people ask me how I can get up that early???? pretty bloody quickly is my answer!!!

Anyway back to this morning and as I managed to get out to the kitchen through the pack of a thousand hounds waiting on the other side of the gate.... ohhh ok the two dogs greeting me with unbridled love... I had my swallow-it-as-quick-as-you-can potion and got ready for the cardio....

Hit the treadmill at 5.30 and all was well and then.... well then I felt like shit.... I struggled to even walk fast but did 15 mins of HIIT while feeling like total crap... So while Lady Gaga was busy telling some wanker to stop telephoning her in my ears, my mind was trying to work out why I felt so disgusting... I decided it was because I had been at the gym less than 12 hours previously on the same treadmill and my body was just telling me to grow a life...

About then I got the nod from Julie (who is competing in May and is also in desperate need of aforementioned life) to let me know that she had finished with the one and only cross trainer and we could swap cardio machines.... so off to the cross trainer I headed.. got one foot on it then had to make a quick exit stage right..... I got to the end of the little aisle between the cardio machines and then went into panic as I quickly appraised my chances of making the best of three choices...

Turn left and try and make it right through the gym to the toilet before I hurled... a quick assessment of the number of elderly people I would have to leap over to get there put this choice as a "No!"

Turn right and try to make it to the grass behind our car before said Hurling... it was still dark so less obvious pt cold and damp on the grass... this choice became a "Maybe"

How much would they be pissed at me for chucking right there on the carpet... a quicker choice but then my stupid "You know you are too polite for that" voice broke through Lady Gaga who was still battling with the wanker on the phone, damn my parents and my good moral upbringing!!! :o)

In the end I made it to the grass and lost my supplements... I found this disturbing in so many ways....

Really all those supplements are not cheap!!!
It was now 5.45 and I'm plonked on the wet grass chucking
I had this thing to do today at work and it was important and unpleasant and there was no wayyyy they would believe I was sick....
I still had 45 mins of cardio to do!!!!!

So there I was with the decision to make which I think a lot of people make about that time of the morning every day... Do I bother doing the cardio or do I just crawl back to bed...

After another 45 minutes of cardio I came home and had my normal eggy oats breakfast, got to work not feeling very good but I have worked the whole day and managed to keep my food intake as normal... still don't feel the best but in the end I didn't roll over and give up.....

I'm hoping it was the Glucosamine on and empty stomach, although I do still have a headache and still feel blahhhhhhhhhhhhh

But if I had chosen to just roll over and give up I would not have lost just that one session of cardio but I would have wasted a whole day of my life... And this old and wise and still slightly creaky one is telling you that if you do that you will wake up one day old and creaky and wonder why you missed so much!!!!!

Could have been the glutamine (better after food) and the glucosamine (also better after food). I'd ditch the L Carnitine when you finish it - there's no supporting studies to suggest it helps in the burn fat equation.

But keep the eggy oats, doctors orders!

Glucosamine really messes with my tummy so I quit taking it. I would guess it was that on an empty tummy.

But if you are going to take it maybe you could do 1/2 bar first or soy/skim prior?

You had a GREAT workout no way could I have lasted that long feeling like that.....you RAWK!

I have found this great eggs and oats recipe, you mix them both together with a dash of skim and scramble its d-lish.

How are you doing yours?

Thanx guys, I definitely won't be taking the Glucosamine on an empty tummy again, I was good this morning with it mixed with PPwdr, but from now on I think I will taken it when I get back and have breakfast....

The eggy oats I have are...
1/2 cup oats
3/4 cup egg whites
1 cup water
cinnamon
& stevia to taste and 1/2 a banana and PPwdr as well intead of the stevia if I am not getting ready to compete.. hand whisk all together and microwave for about 4 mins on 70% the trick is to stop and whisk every 30 secs or minute so the eggs don't seperate... totally addicted to it!!!!
